The National Civil War Museum

The National Civil War Museum

The only museum in The United States that portrays the entire story of the American Civil War. History is preserved in equally balanced presentations that are humanistic in nature without bias to Union or Confederate causes.

In light of the situation in the current press, The National Civil War Museum has issued the following statement:

The Board of Directors of The National Civil War Museum have no intentions of closing the museum and we will be conducting business as usual.
Over the past fourteen years, The National Civil War Museum has hosted three-quarters of a million visitors. This past fiscal year alone the museum hosted 42,785 total visitors. Guests came from all 50 states and thirty foreign countries. This visitation was more than a 10% increase over our last fiscal year. As part of our work, the museum educated 7,000 school age children who hailed from local districts, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and national locations. While the mission of the museum is educational in nature, it also provided millions of dollars of economic benefit to the area as Harrisburg’s number two rated tourist attraction according to the nationally acclaimed website Trip Advisor©.
As a Smithsonian Affiliated Museum in Pennsylvania, The National Civil War Museum is proud to be one of the leading educational facilities in the nation interpreting and preserving the history of the American Civil War. Educating future generations about the sacrifice and participation of a generation of Americans whose conduct over 150 years ago shaped this nation, has and always will be our main goal.   I know all of you join us in continuing to support all we do in bringing the story of this struggle to life.
