Toys for Tots Kickoff November 3

CAMPAIGN KICK-OFF EVENT IS MONDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 2003 AT 10:00AM IN THE GRAND ROTUNDA OF THE NATIONAL CIVIL WAR MUSEUM. One of the most visible landmarks in Harrisburg, The National Civil War Museum serves as the ideal headquarters for 2003 Toys for Tots campaign. Distribution of Collection Support Packages is planned for local Toys for Tots coordinators attending the kick-off ceremonies. Popular “Patriotic Santa” Kevin Rawlings will be on hand to greet guests.

“Last year’s effort by Harrisburg-based supporters was the fourth most successful program of 414 similar efforts in the entire country,” stated George E. Hicks, CEO of The National Civil War Museum. “This year, we hope the Harrisburg area is number one.”

Supporting Toys for Tots has become an annual event for The National Civil War Museum. From November 3 until December 19, each new, unwrapped toy valued $10 or more earns a complimentary ticket to The National Civil War Museum. This is our gift to those who support this philanthropic program.

Since 1947, the Toys for Tots nationwide campaign defines the true spirit of the season, “bringing the joy of Christmas to America’s needy children”. As an educational institution, The National Civil War Museum supports children and families alike, and shares the goal of giving back to the community. All toys collected stay within our community to benefit local families.
