Artillery
demonstrations, a trunk show,
book signings, and more!

Saturday

Special presentation at 2:00pm by James Getty. Mr.
Getty will portray President Abraham Lincoln as he discusses his
visit to Harrisburg in 1861 and the Emancipation Proclamation that changed
the course of the war.
°
Reenactors will be selling high quality reproduction items,
including uniforms and cartridge boxes from 11am - 3pm.
°
Lucy Cadwallader will be demonstrating the makings of hair jewelry
that were prevalent during the Civil War era.
°
Author William G. Williams of Days of Darkness: The
Gettysburg Civilians will be at the Museum for a book signing from
11am – 3pm.
Saturday
& Sunday
°
Living history encampments will take place, featuring artillery
demonstrations. In
particular, there will be encampments of Confederate Civil War artillery
units: Purcell’s Battery, the “Fauquier Artillery” and the 4th
Maryland Light Artillery, the “Chesapeake Artillery”.
Loading and firing demonstrations will be conducted each day and
living historians will explain how the guns were used in action and their
impact on the battlefield.

In
addition to the regular galleries, a special exhibition on the
Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln will be on display.
The
National Civil War Museum will be open Saturday from 10:00am – 5:00pm
and Sunday from 12:00pm – 5:00pm. Admission
to the Museum is $8 adults, with reduced rates for students, seniors,
military personnel and families. Come
dressed in Civil War Attire and get in half price on either day for the
National Civil War Museum only! For
