NEWS RELEASE
Issued December 2, 2002
For Immediate Release
The National Civil War Museum will host an evening with Santa from 6:00pm
to 8:30pm on Friday, December 20, 2002. Kevin Rawlings returns as the
Civil War Santa Claus to spread joy throughout the Christmas Season. Learn
how Santa Claus developed during the Civil War, as Harper’s Weekly artist
Thomas Nast recast the beardless elf into the jolly, rotund and
bushy-bearded character we all recognize today. Enjoy holiday caroling,
festive cookies and warm cider. Celebrate the Christmas Spirit with
friends and family, and remember to bring a toy for the “Toys for Tots”
U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program.
This evening is our gift to you for your support and friendship throughout
the year.
The National Civil War Museum is located in Reservoir Park in Harrisburg.
Regular hours: Monday – Saturday. 10:00am to 5:00pm, Sunday 12:00pm –
