Community Free Days

Three of the highest attendance days at the museum. They include speakers, children’s activities, living history programs, and all-day fun. Community Free Days are non-exclusive and scheduled for Saturday, February 18, 2023 – President’s Day Weekend/Black History Month, Saturday, June 17, 2023 – Juneteenth Weekend, and Saturday, November 11, 2023 – Veteran’s Day Weekend.

Temporary Exhibits

Each year the museum curates two temporary exhibits. Temporary Exhibits open on February and June Community Free Days with special Members Only preview events. The exhibits highlight artifacts that are not on permanent display and focus on specific Civil War related topics. They remain open for twelve months, providing sponsors with additional exposure.

Lessons in History Speaker Series

An ongoing, free speaker series at the museum that brings experts from across the country to share insight and information on subjects that explore beyond the battlefield and go into the people, places, and politics of the American Civil that still ripple through modern current events.

Full-Day Symposia

Sponsor a full day of educational programming highlighting an individual or subject that helped shape the history of the American Civil War. These symposia are available in-person and virtually.

Battlefield Tour

This specialized tour takes a group of enthusiasts back onto the battlefield and to significant Civil War sites with artifacts from the museum’s collection. A rare and unique opportunity.

Civil War Saturday

September 23, 2023 – A full day of living history encampments and demonstrations. Living historians performing first-person portrayals of historic figures will interact with you and your family, while military demonstrations and live fire artillery demonstrations occur throughout the day. Children are FREE and adult admission is discounted for the day.

Cocktails & Cannonballs Fundraiser

Our largest fundraiser of the year on September 22, 2023 – An evening of food, drinks, music, a wine pull, a silent auction, and living history characters. An event with a BANG!

School Field Trips

Schools from across the country visit The National Civil War Museum. As an EITC-approved Pennsylvania business, you can donate directly to our educational programs. The National Civil War Museum is an approved Education Innovation Organization (EIO) by the PA-EITC (Pennsylvania Educational Improvement Tax Credit) program
